The history, culture, architecture, agriculture, economy, social aspects and setting of the German people who inhabited Veszprem County, Hungary, many of whom emigrated to the United States during the period 1890 to 1960. Included is an alphabetized list of 4,000 of the immigrants, with important genealogical information.
There is also a list of 2,000 German settlers who colonized Veszprem County in the late 17th and early 18th centuries after the defeat of the Turkish Army, together with dates and places of origin. The expulsion of the Germans after World War Two is covered, with personal accounts of several expellees. The reasons for emigration, the places of settlement, and the types of work done by the immigrants in the USA are discussed.
