This book provides a Quaker woman's account of domestic and community life on the Ohio home front during the Civil War. She was active in the Temperance movement, commented on equal rights for women, sewed articles of clothing for the Contraband Society, listed books she read, and recorded recipes. She is descended from Coffin, Macy, Starbuck, Bunker, Gardner, Betts, Hunt, Hiatt, Beals, and Stoughton families.
