This is a history of the Bater/Batter family--originally from Devon, England--illustrated with family photographs, maps, charts, etc. The descendants (and ancestors) of the seven children of William Bater (1797-1866) and Mary (Cockram) Bater (1802-1885) living in England, Ireland, America, Canada, Australia, and Malta are outlined in the first twelve chapters. Four of the children emigrated to settle finally in Michigan in the U.S. in the mid-1800s, while three children stayed in Devon, England, Other Bater/Batter families of Devon are traced in the final chapters.
