Not Merely Ancestors is a guide for designing a course in genealogy for Middle School or High School classes. The key to Mr. Davis's book is to turn students on to genealogy by putting them to work compiling the stories and records of their own parents, grandparents, and other relatives. Since the author tries to look at genealogy from the student's perspective, he shows you how to keep the material interesting, how to answer difficult or sensitive questions, and a good deal more. The appendices at the back of the pamphlet are full of explanatory charts, diagrams, and reading lists which you can photocopy for the students' use, as well as lists of questions to promote classroom discussion and homework assignments.
