About sixty years ago, the genealogist J. Montgomery Seaver began to compile family histories-in-brief of 49 prominent American families, including the twelve listed below. Each of these volumes includes the family coat of arms, a record of ancient families of the name, a list of prominent members of the family past and present in both England and America, a record of those of the name tracing descent from royalty, a record of the first emigrants to America and the first few generations descended from them, Revolutionary War veterans from the family, and various lists of sources.
