This is the seventh in an eight-volume series pertaining to the early genealogy of Surry and Isle of Wight counties. The genealogies trace the various families in a six-generation format that includes all records, documents, and discussions of descent. Each genealogy begins with the immigrant ancestor and traces all descendants, male and female, down to the children of the fifth generation. The other books in the series consist of abstracts or transcriptions of the records of Isle of Wight County.

This extraordinary family history traces all documented ancestors of Pitt family immigrants to Massachusetts and Virginia, including many never-before-seen ancestors of maternal branches, as far back as the early 1500s.
