One fact of genealogical life is encountering ancient or out-of-date terminology in the documents of our ancestors. Such problems arise when examining documents such as court cases, mortality records, letters, family Bibles, and so forth. This CD-ROM publication consists of the first two editions (1891 and 1910) of Henry Campbell Black's Dictionary of Law. These early editions are of great value to genealogists because they contain numerous legal references from the American colonial period, or, in any case, before 1900. Kinship terms from legal Latin and legal French are included, as well as words and phrases from Scottish and Welsh law.
