This volume is a partial reconstruction of passenger records for the port of Bremen, based on American, rather than German, sources--specifically, on passenger lists of vessels arriving at New York that are now in the custody of the National Archives.
The second volume of German Immigrants provides information on about 35,000 German immigrants from Bremen who arrived in New York from 1855 to 1862. Not all Bremen passengers from this period are included--only those for whom a specific place of origin is given, about 35,000 immigrants. (See also Items 6581, 6582, and 6583.)
For convenience the immigrants' names are arranged in alphabetical order, and family members are grouped together, usually under the head of household. Details concerning age, date of arrival, and the name of the ship are provided, as are specific citations to the original source material.
This volume is available on our Family Archive CD 7267.
